Before the Match
Check the fixture, confirm the match arrangements and make sure you have everything needed before kick-off.

Before Kick-Off
A quick check that the essentials are in place before the match starts.
Home Team
- Pitch marked and ready
- Goals secured and nets fitted
- Corner flags in place
- Respect spectator area / barrier set up
- Technical areas in place where required
- Two match balls of the correct size available
- Referee fee / payment arrangements ready where applicable
Both Teams
- Squad list available
- U12 and above: completed team sheet available
- First-aid kit available
- Players wearing shin pads
- Shirts correctly numbered
- Check for a colour clash — home team changes where required
- Player equipment / accessories checked for safety
Under the 2026/27 Laws of the Game, accessories may be worn where they are not dangerous and are safely and securely covered. Dangerous items must be removed. The referee determines whether equipment is safe.
League referee appointed? Make sure the fixture has been confirmed with them in advance.
During the Match

Power Play
Power Play applies to OYFL U8–U11 matches. Use the current guidance for how it operates during a match.
After the Match
Complete the required match administration and report anything that needs further action.
